Soundtrack Released: Brad Oberhofer’s Score to ‘The Andy Warhol Diaries’

Netflix has released The Andy Warhol Diaries original series soundtrack from composer, producer, and recording artist Brad Oberhofer (he/him). The six-part docuseries from executive producer Ryan Murphy and director Andrew Rossi was nominated for four Emmys including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series, receiving high praise and review since its March release earlier this year.

The soundtrack spans two discs that highlight Oberhofer’s attention to subtlety and detail. The first showcases soft, intimate piano lines full of dreaminess and melancholy, while the latter guides us into broader themes and atmospheres that feature spacious synth textures, emotional string motifs, and even fun, upbeat bops that call back to the 80’s.

These finely crafted processed vocals, reversed piano, and gossamer synths truly send us back in time through a surreal and emotional lens. Variety points out "The Andy Warhol Diaries really, and not surprisingly, stands out in the music composition category [with] composer Brad Oberhofer's meditative piano score,” while The Queer Review notes that Brad's "dreamy, nostalgia-tinged score never manipulates, but subtly evokes each era and helps us absorb the atmosphere conjured by Warhol's words."

The Andy Warhol Diaries OST is out now on all music streaming platforms, and the series is now streaming on Netflix.
