Kyle Rodriguez Scores Apple TV+ Kids & Family Series ‘Jane’

Composer Kyle Rodriguez (he/him) has scored the upcoming Apple TV+ kids & family series Jane, from Emmy Award winning writer and executive producer J.J. Johnson, Sinking Ship Entertainment and the Jane Goodall Institute. The mission-driven live action/CGI blended series follows 9-year old Jane Garcia (Ava Louise Murchison) on adventures to save endangered animals with her best friend David (Mason Blomberg) and Greybeard the chimpanzee.

The series takes its calling from the following quote from Jane Goodall: “Only if we understand, will we care. Only if we care, will we help. Only if we help, can they be saved.”

Kyle draws from an eclectic and contemporary style when scoring for the series, stating that he “used instruments and sound design based on the places the animals live - sometimes building custom instruments by hand.” With an orchestral foundation layered with 808s, synths, electric guitar, and ethnic winds, he brings to life the vibrant, diverse and colorful wildlife that exists all around us.

The theme song “One Step Closer” is performed by Leona Lewis, with music and lyrics written by Diane Warren, who has pledged to donate a portion of her profits from the song to the Jane Goodall Institute.
