New York Times Reviews ‘Songs of Earth’, Official US Theatrical Release

We are pleased to find that Songs of Earth, the critically acclaimed Norwegian documentary scored by Rebekka Karijord, has received the attention of The New York Times. NYT movie critic Alissa Wilkinson writes about the film with glowing praise, describing its poetic beauty:

It’s an altogether extraordinary film, one I’ve thought about often since I first saw it, and I’m delighted that it’s playing in theaters — the immersive nature of the sounds, music and landscapes are worth experiencing with the full concentration a cinema affords. But even if you can’t see it that way, it’s worth watching whenever it’s available digitally. Just make sure you close the door, dim the lights and give yourself the gift of being immersed in it fully. (Full article here)

Having made its rounds first at CPH:DOX then on to TIFF, in addition to being an IDA and Cinema Eye Honors nominee for Best Cinematography and Best Original Music Score, Songs of Earth is making its way to the US, with a special Q&A screening today and tomorrow with director Margreth Olin in New York at the IFC Center (Tickets).
