Rebekka Karijord Receives Nominations for ‘Songs of Earth’ Score

With the growing buzz around the Margreth Olin’s critically acclaimed nature documentary Songs of Earth, the attention to the score behind the film continues to mount as well. Composer Rebekka Karijord (she/her) has just received two nominations for her score: the 39th IDA Documentary Awards for Best Original Music Score, and the 2024 Cinema Eye Honors for Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Score.

The IDA (International Documentary Association) champions the work of documentary filmmakers all around the globe and strives to promote a thriving culture around documentary films. The IDA Documentary Awards selects nominees chosen by “independent committees of 280 documentary makers, curators, critics, and industry experts from 40 countries. [The IDA] received 669 total submissions in all categories from 48 countries.” Winners will be announced December 12, 2023. The Cinema Eye Honors is an international award that celebrates nonfiction feature and short-film works of all genres and remains the first and only award to recognize the entire creative team. The category for Original Music Score “celebrates those diverse musicians who successfully married music to film.” Winners will be announced January 12, 2024.
