Bio
Kyle Rodriguez (he/him) is a LatinX film composer, producer, and songwriter based in Los Angeles. Using a unique collection of bespoke instruments, toys, and tape machines, Kyle writes music that combines the orchestra with modern production and analog circuits. His work can be heard on projects across networks including AppleTV+, Netflix, Hulu, Nickelodeon, and Adult Swim.
Most recently, Kyle scored AppleTV+’s Jane, a live-action/CGI-animation blended adventure series inspired by the works of Dr. Jane Goodall. The hybrid score features a mix of authentic world instruments, roaring synths, and an orchestral palette that enlivens the adventures of Jane, a 9-year-old budding environmentalist on a quest to save endangered animals. Also upcoming for Kyle is Paramount+'s highly anticipated docuseries The Family Stallone, which will give audiences a rare glimpse into the off-camera life of action movie star Sylvester Stallone. Kyle’s beat-oriented score uses bouncy electronic grooves, spacey guitars, and funky vocal chops to take a uniquely modern and danceable approach to the show’s soundtrack.
In 2022, Kyle made his Sundance Film Festival debut, working with AFI Directing Fellow April Maxey for her film Work, which was listed on Indiewire's "10 Must See Shorts at Sundance 2022.” The project continues to receive acclaim throughout the festival circuit, screening at Tribeca, Outfest, and many others. Other recent scores include the short films La Piscina and Scary Car from Brooklyn comedy darlings Simple Town, as well as Ale Libre from LatinX director and Sundance fellow Maya Cueva. He also co-scored Eli Roth’s Discovery+ feature documentary Fin with composers Nathan Barr and Lisbeth Scott.
Kyle began his career assisting Emmy Award-winning film & TV composer Nathan Barr, where he cut his teeth on shows such as FX’s The Americans, Hulu’s The Great, and Amazon’s Carnival Row. At Occidental College he studied Economics with a minor in Film Studies. As a composer and a child of Latino immigrants, Kyle is dedicated to removing the barriers to entry for other people of color pursuing composition and strives to create opportunities for young musicians hoping to enter the film industry. He currently resides in northeast Los Angeles where he continues to DJ and produce artists when he’s not on a deadline.
