Dave Volpe Scores ‘Maxxie LaWow’, Premiering at Cinema Diverse: The Palm Springs LGBTQ+ Film Festival

We are pleased to announce the upcoming world premiere of the animated feature Maxxie LaWow: Drag Super-Shero, scored by Dave Volpe (he/him) along with original songs by Dave Volpe and Roman Molino Dunn. Premiering at the Cinema Diverse: Palm Springs LGBTQ+ Film Festival and directed by Anthony Hand, the film follows a shy barista whose life transforms when a magic wig turns him into drag queen Maxxie LaWow, tasked with finding missing queens held by Dyna Bolical who wants their anti-aging tears.

Cinema Diverse is a program of the Palm Springs Cultural Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing education, to nurturing community-wide participation in the cultural arts, and to sponsoring scholarship awards for deserving individuals. Each year they host the Palm Springs LGBTQ+ Film Festival, dedicated to advancing and further strengthening our diverse gay community through the establishment of a world-class forum that presents lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender cinema from around the world.
