Matthew Wang Releases Debut Album ‘Ambia 151’

Composer Matthew Wang (he/him) introduces "Ambia 151," a revolutionary album comprising 151 ambient experimental tracks designed for shuffle-mode listening. Each track seamlessly transitions into the next, in any order, offering listeners an infinite array of musical journeys. Wang's unique blend of reversed guitars, found sound recordings from NYC, and orchestral elements create a tranquil sonic landscape, promising a deeply immersive and soothing auditory experience to calm the mind and ease the soul.

"Ambia 151" represents Wang's exploration into the limitless possibilities of ambient music, inviting listeners to embark on a transformative sonic adventure. With meticulous craftsmanship and a passion for innovation, Wang has crafted an album that defies traditional boundaries, offering a fluid and expansive listening experience.

Ambia 151 marks Wang’s first album release under his own name. Along with the announcement, Matt shared the album’s lead single, “Ambia 1” that released August 9, 2024: Listen Here

"Inspired by my love for albums like Mark Mothersbaugh's 'The Most Powerful Healing Muzik In The Entire World,' Brian Eno's 'Ambient 1: Music for Airports,' U2's 'The Joshua Tree,' and Max Richter's 'Sleep,'" Wang explains, "Ambia started as an album inspired by the mechanics of video game music engines that adapt to the player's decisions. I wanted to make an adaptive album that changes every time you listen to it on shuffle mode. A first listen might feel more solemn, a second listen might feel more hopeful, a third listen might make you fall asleep, and any of the possible journeys Ambia takes you on will hopefully bring more peace and calm to your life. Ambia should be a release from tension and hard times.”

Wang is planning live concert experiences for Ambia in New York and Los Angeles for later in the year and is currently finishing up the score to an upcoming Netflix Documentary called Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous.
