Stefan L. Smith’s Score to “She Dreams At Sunrise” Receives HMMA Nomination

Composer and violist Stefan L. Smith has been nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award for his score to the animated short “She Dreams at Sunrise”, a touching story of an elderly woman who lives more in her dreams than in her dreary daily existence, while her great-nephew tries to renew her joie de vivre. Directed by Camrus Johnson, the short held its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2021 and has since screened and won awards at festivals all over the world.

Stefan’s whimsical and delicate orchestral score brings a vibrant color to the dreamscapes depicted, as well as a deeply human touch to the connection between the characters in this story. Fluttering strings and playful woodwinds blend with a gentle piano to create a beautiful harmony that reminds us not only of the grander beauty of the world, but also of the small, quiet treasures that are right in front of us.

The 13th Annual Hollywood Music In Media Awards will be held on November 16, 2022 at The Avalon in Hollywood. For more about the awards and to see the full list of nominees, click here.

The Original Soundtrack to “She Dreams at Sunrise” is also available to stream on all major platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon). Watch the trailer for the film below.

Congratulations, Stefan! Best of luck on November 16!
