Bio

Dave Volpe (he/him) is a Los Angeles based composer for film, media, and the concert hall. He has scored a number of feature films along with countless shorts and media projects. Most recently he scored the animated feature MAXXIE LAWOW which will have its world premiere at the Cinema Diverse Festival in Palm Springs in Sept 2024 and will continue making its way around the festival circuit through 2025.

Other notable projects include his Ambie-Nominated score to the popular fantasy fiction podcast series CARCEREM, as well his score to the colorful sci-fi comedy series HOME INVASION (starring Morena Baccarin) and his dark, jazz-influenced score to the brooding noir feature CLOWNING in which he also played a supporting role on screen.

Dave has also lent his well-seasoned skills as an orchestrator to a number of films and series, most notably the critically acclaimed Star Wars series AHSOKA, the Netflix live action adaptation of AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, and the Nickelodeon animated feature BABY SHARK’S BIG MOVIE.

A graduate of the USC Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program, Dave was afforded the opportunity to work for and/or learn from some of the leading figures in film and television music including Thomas Newman, Blake Neely, Bruce Broughton, and the late Jack Smalley.

In addition to his work in media and the concert hall, Dave is a singer and accomplished choral arranger and composer. He has been commissioned to arrange for a host of LGBT choruses including the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, and the Turtle Creek Chorale (Dallas). His arrangements are performed by choruses all over the country year-round.

In addition to music, Dave is a comedic actor in commercials and movies as well as a voice actor. He is an avid cook, baker, reader, and podcast junkie.
